BroadviewHouse Security            Main Index
Security is an unfortunate necessity at BroadviewHouse, and in the world at large, there are people who do not care about anyone but themselves and will cause harm to others. Boulder has transients that are hungry and need money and have no attachments to anyone but themselves and would not mind removing your property, food, or bike if they can walk in and grab it. People have walked in and removed things in the past and could do it again if you let them. There are also ladies in the house that have added concerns. Keep your bedroom doors locked.
Keep all outside doors shut.

If you want ventilation, open a window, if you open a door close it when you leave the room.

When someone comes to the door for someone else in the house use the intercom to be sure they are home. Any true friend of a house mate will understand the need to maintain some security with so many people in the house. If needed stand in the inner doorway while you buzz the room and wait for a reply, if the guest, (they are a guest in your home too), does not agree, they can leave.

Do not let someone you do not know wander though the house.
If they say they "just want to leave a message", do it for them or usher them to the kitchen message board or to the bedroom door, (messages may be put under the bedroom door), then back outside.
Messages must not be pinned or taped to any wood work or wall in the house.
If a guest bolts past you to some unknown area, go with them and usher them outside.
If needed call a house mate or police (911) for help.
