    A  transom is the window above the bedroom door, in BroadviewHouse only the upstairs bedrooms have transoms. They are wooden panels which are unlatched and opened with a light chain that also holds the transom open when hooked in the keyhole of the catch that the chain is strung through , it simply swings shut when the chain is released . Please do not yank on the light chain.
    Use the transoms and windows to help air circulate through the rooms when the house fan is on .
